Comments on "CBC News: A Living Wage Instead Of Paying A Minimum Wage"

We define it by ...
We define it by realizxing that the word represents a certain mental state that can be seen across cultures, just as we use the word DOG to refer to certain four-legged animals. Im not going along with? this until you tell me why you draw a distinction between murder and theft on the grounds of objectivity. Your posts are interesting but your delievery requires tighter logical flow.

ps: sorry for the ...
ps: sorry for the poor grammer. the limited number of characters allowed in youtube comments has corrupted my language? abilities over time :P

Has fighting ...
Has fighting terrorism, resulted in 'less terrorism?' Has war, resulted in 'no more wars?' I find all these solutions like 'band-aids,' or trying to treat something like say, "sadness." And? blaming it on 'all the bad things that happen in the world.' So we'll 'cure sadness' by making it illegal to 'make people sad.' Not arguing against basic shared values. Murder is murder. Rape is rape. Theft is theft. We can agree that much.

But do we define it ...
But do we define it on a locally, by province, federally? By? continent? What I'm saying, things like murder, acts of violence, rape.. are tangible, absolute things which it's clear to determine what is, or what isn't, what we're labelling it as. Kids in Ethiopia are die of starvation. I do agree it is a global responsibility to help. But people could argue endlessly about "greed," and creating yet more more laws, will only result in the opposite intent.

I dont buy your ...
I dont buy your line of reasoning, although I appreciate the effort you put into it. Greed is taking more than you need when another suffers for it. Theft, malfeasence, and usery are also legal absolutes. A poor person could not argue a guy with subsistence means is greedy bcuz he? knows the other guy needs that to live. Socrates needed to eat too, did that make him greedy? Do you mean open to interpretation? Your arguments are interesting but not compelling.

murder is something ...
murder is something absolute. you either are responsible for the death of a person, or you are not. but how can you argue the same about greed?somebody with nothing could argue, anybody with anything is greedy?even? down the line of socrates whom rejected all forms of wealth as meaningful to existence.simply for having value for absolutely anything material, and not idealistic. going by his definition, we're all greedy. i think it's too open to manipulation.

and also to create ...
and also to create such a law,how will you define what 'greed' is.something absolute? i'd figure it'd be relative.are we to say "$100,000" is the most any person can have.but what if the money's value has deflated to nothing? over time?are we to amend the law each year,to determine how much any person can have based on the new economic situation? i'd also argue regulations just create monopolies.it makes crime more profitable, for those whom find the loophole

i'm not sure i ...
i'm not sure i could ever agree? the solution to any social issue is more gov, more control, more regulations.i'd base that largely on how corrupt gov currently is. but even if it were ideal, realizing the ironic effects imposing things on people forcefully has, quite often resulting in the exact opposite of what you'd want. for example, drug laws. the biggest supporters of drug prohibition are big drug cartels.if it were legal, profit=none. a means of control

You cant stop hate ...
You cant stop hate by making laws against murder either, but at least you can use the force of the law as a preventitive measure, and as a means of punishing those who commit it.? We cannot make laws against greed, but we can make laws against manifestations of greed.

- I agree with you ...
- I agree with you Tek - mandating it would challenge smaller businesses which typically hire kids and part timers in order to be competitive? they need to keep wages down. And the mothership of social economic issues we have yet to grapple with as a society is the issue of CEO pay. CEO remuneration based on short term share price increase drives corporations from the top down to bend truth and rules as far as they can in the pursuit of big paychecks for C-suite employees.

Better times should ...
Better times should change then they should end. If the rich are too evil too realize? that their slaves still need a place to live...f**k 'em! Better a socialist country than a ruined country.

this 'living wage' ...
this 'living wage' idea,if enforced federally seems? edging on socialism.i think it's a great idea, but should be done on a purely voluntary basis.naturally most employers would start losing-out with more competitors offering such packages.the thing i don't like about a mandated enforcement (other then the obvious gov corruption) it doesn't at all address the bigger issue, the social-economic issues leading-up to things being the way they are.you can't stop greed by writing a law about it.

"municipal" ...
"municipal" employees are below the poverty line? ?

"acorn Canada" - ...
"acorn Canada" - this? news story is government propaganda beware

What would happen ...
What would happen if the rich corps had no one wanting to work for them. I mean no workers period! We are the oil in? the machine, yes??

A living? wage is ...
A living? wage is another step closer to F

minimum wage? laws ...
minimum wage? laws hurt poor people

America is f**ked.?
America is f**ked.?

And they have ...
And they have Socialized? health care in Canada. Americans you are being chumped like a donkey on a plow. These people know they are exploiting workers and and asking them to subsidize their businesses and their bottom lines with their health and lives. WE MUST ALL STAND TOGETHER AND SAY ***NO***. As it is now, they don;t pay and spend the money they make on us to lobby against health care for all and living wages. WE MUST STAND TOGETHER BROTHERS AND SISTERS AND STOP THIS.....

Bravo~! Minimum ...
Bravo~! Minimum Wage means...The LOWEST you can pay someone without Legal Action being taken against you! You get what you? Pay for!

its a person stop ...
its a person stop being a douche?

Blame the Zionists ...
Blame the Zionists in government! This f**king corporate fascist communist hybrid government cheats Canadians while the fats cats get corporate welfare in the billions and they steal it before it does what the Canadians are told it was supposed to do. Canadians got to kick those bastards at the Canadian? Council of Chief Executives in the ass and try them for treason weakening the economy for Canadians. We got to scratch that Law that we cannot sue Crown Corporations who get away with murder!

Sell all your s**t, ...
Sell all your s**t, eat good cheap food. drink water... walk places... ?

is that a guy with ...
is that a guy with a high voice or? a really ugly brawd?

I paid my house off ...
I paid my house off making 7 dollars an hour. I had to live within my means though, that means no nice car, no fancy furniture, no big ticket toys. In other words I never worried about keeping up with? the Joneses. Now amazingly I own two properties while I have seen many of my fellow Joneses loose everything. The money changers allow people to take on way to much debt, this is why they own so much. I agree with a living wage but why only in the cities? Seems like they want to herd us together.
